Last week in Taksim Square, Istanbul, a small protest against the demolition of Gezi Park was interrupted by heavy-handed crackdown by police.

The peaceful protest has now developed into a large-scale demonstration throughout Turkey against the country’s Islamist-rooted government.

Two protesters currently in Istanbul were willing to give a first hand perspective of the largest protests Turkey has seen in a decade.
