The Creative Community Engagement Projects ‘megastory’ gives voice to some of the state’s most intriguing community-focused initiatives. From recycle and re-use programs and Buddhist forest monasteries, to food distribution centres and women’s development projects, this collection of stories showcases the spirit of Queensland communities, working with each other towards positive social change.

About the lead writers

Courtney PhelpsCourtney Phelps is a freelance journalist with a penchant for travel, politics and grandpa cardigans. With experience at News Queensland, ABC Radio National, 4ZzZFM and various community organisations, Courtney hopes to pursue a career in print and radio journalism. She is currently studying a Master of Communication at the University of Queensland, majoring in Social Change.
Rhian DeutromRhian Deutrom has graduated with a Bachelor degree in Journalism and is currently completing a Masters in Communication for Social Change at the University of Queensland. She has produced radio for ABC Rural, worked as a freelance reporter in Sri Lanka and currently works as a Communications Officer at The University of Queensland School of Journalism and Communication.
